Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #572:

April has sure been living up to its reputation for rain showers but it's been really on the cold side which isn't normal for this time of year.

Our townhouse complex is being re-roofed and our unit is one of the first to be done so there is a lot of pounding, things dropping and general chaos as the work progresses.  I am however thoroughly "over the roof" that it's finally getting done!  Unfortunately with the lack of sunshine its a slower go than one would expect. Today I'm excited to share a "new to me" sketch challenge called Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  It was recommended to me by my stampin' bestie Sheri, who often participates in their weekly challenges.  Her comment was this is a great challenge site because the design team give lots of feedback and there are always fun challenges.  Well that was enough to get me looking.

Here's the Sketch Challenge Atlantic Hearts #572:

Here's My Card:

I'm continuing to make Anniversary cards and this one is quite elegant.  It began with an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" Crumb Cake card base that was scored at 4 1/4".  A layer of Gorgeous Grape measuring 4" x 5 1/4" was added next and followed by a beautiful sheet of Perennial Lavender designer series paper.  I love the artistry of these papers.

For the oval on the card sketch I chose a floral oval wreath from the retired Eden dies.  I debated about using a purple toned cardstock for the oval, however decided to use basic white to tie it in to the beautiful flowers in the dsp.  I'm glad I did as it lent a folksy whimsical look to the card.

At the top of the wreath oval I added some Gorgeous Grape and Lost Lagoon lavender sprigs and a Lost Lagoon taffeta ribbon.  I also randomly placed fine Purple Shimmer Gems to add some sparkle.  The Happy Anniversary sentiment was stamped with Versamark and Lost Lagoon inks and heat set with Clear Embossing Powder.

This was a fun and easy card to make because the oval die and the designer paper made it come together quickly.  Please let me know if you liked this card, I love to get feedback.  Be sure to pop over to the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog and take a look at the beautiful card entries for this week's challenge.

Camping Theme Anniversary Card - TSOT644

Hi everyone.  I'm trying another challenge card with the Try Stamping On Tuesday (TSOT) group.  Here is their sketch:

HERE'S MY CARD:

Camping season is just around the corner and I have several friends who get together to golf and camp every summer.  One of the couples will be celebrating a milestone anniversary, so I wanted to make them a fun outdoorsy type of card.

I am still trying to use up retired papers so this was a great opportunity to use leftovers from the "He's the Man" designer series paper pack.

Supplies Used:
Stamp Set and Dies:  He's All That (R)
Cardstock:  Early Espresso, Soft Succulent, Whisper White
DSP:  He's The Man 12 x 12 DSP
Accessories:  Gold Adhesive Backed Swirls (R)

This was a fun sketch and the card was easy to assemble.  I'm happy I was finally able to make the deadline for this sketch challenge.

Gold Foiled Flowers Anniversary Cards

I have several wedding anniversaries coming up so I decided to get my supply of cards finished ahead of time. Back in January I purchased a set of cards called Gold Foiled Flowers Cards and Envelopes (item #162589).

This set comes with ten gold foil Very Vanilla cards and will make some elegant anniversary cards. Because both sides of the card base are covered with the foil design, I can cut them in half and make around 20 cards. There are only ten of the coordinating envelopes, but I'll make additional very vanilla envelopes and emboss the flaps so they match the cards.

Okay to get started, I chose the layout from this week's Freshly Made Sketches #630 challenge sketch.   Here is the sketch:

Freshly Made Sketches #630 details for challenge

Here is my FMS#630 card:

Supplies Used:
Stamp Set:  Perennial Postage (Sending Love and Best Wishes), Petite Pairs (Happy Anniversary) and another brand for black flower cluster
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Gold Foiled Flowers Card Bases
Ink:  Momento Tuxedo Black
Embossing Folder:  Layered Florals 3D #162935
Accessories:  Brushed Brass Butterflies #158136 AC

Here are additional cards made with this card set:

I hope you enjoyed these cards.  I'm planning to order another package of these during the upcoming Last Chance Sale starting on April 9th.  Maybe I'll make wedding cards with the next batch.  Let me know if you like these elegant anniversary cards, I'd love to hear from you.

Happy Stamping!

Two Toned Flora Anniversary Card and FMS Challenge #575

Thanks for dropping by today.   Like a lot of places on the west coast we had a cold front settle in this past week.  Brrrrrrrrr the wind chill has really dropped the normally mild end of February temps to record lows.   The good news about bad weather is that I actually get some play time in my craft room.

I've been working on Karens Freshly Made Sketch FMS#575.  Here's the sketch:

Here's My Card:

Details:

Stamp Sets:

  • Two Toned Flora bundle includes Two Toned Flora stamp set and the Two Toned Flora dies.

Ink:

  • Soft Succulent
  • Fresh Freesia
  • Flirty Flamingo
  • Highland Heather

DSP:

Accessories:

  • Cane 3-D Embossing Folder
  • Tailor Made Tag Dies
  • Sequins
  •  Dimensionals
Mats and Design Element:
  • Fresh Freesia card base measures 8 1/2" 5 1/2" and is scored at 4 1/4"
  • Highland Heather mat measures 5 1/4" x 4"
  • For DSP and White Mat I cut a piece of the Fancy Flora DSP to 2" x 4 7/8" and adhered to the Highland Heather mat, leaving an 1/8" border on top, side and bottom.  I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to 2" by 4 7/8 and embossed it with the Cane 3D Embossing Folder before mounting it to the Highland Heather mat.
  • The tag was cut from a scrap of Whisper White card stock with the Tailor Made Tag Dies and the Happy Anniversary sentiment was stamped in Highland Heather Ink. The tag was adhered below the flower onto the Whisper White mat.
  • The floral element began by stamping three of the flowers from the Two Toned Flora Stamp set onto Whisper White card stock.  I stamped two flowers with Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather ink, and one using Flirty Flamingo.  For the first layer I stamped off once for the details I went full strength with the ink.  The leaves were stamped with Soft Succulent ink.  Flowers and leaves were die cut with the Two Toned Flora Dies and adhered to the circle with adhesive and dimensionals.
  • Inside panel is a 4" by 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White.  I stamped the sentiment in Highland Heather and one of the large flowers in Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather.

This was a great sketch, and made the card come together quickly without a lot of fuss once the flowers had been stamped and the mats adhered to the card front.  I'm sure I'll be using it again in the near future as I have some thank you cards it would make quick work of.
The Two Toned Flora set was really fun to work with.  I experimented a bit with the inks I was using before stamping on the card stock.  The stamps were easy to work with but you need to play with them a bit to make sure you're lined up so you get the best floral image.  Having the dies for these flowers made assembly easier too.

Well that's it for my card today.  Be sure to pop on over to Freshly Made Sketches to check out the Design Teams cards and all the other wonderful participant cards.  It just might give you a nudge to make your own card with this design.

Happy Stamping!

Love is in the Air

It's that "Love" time of year again, with lots of weddings, anniversary's and engagement parties coming up.  With that in mind I thought I better start putting some ideas together for cards so I'll have a good supply on hand, and not be doing things at the last minute.

Usually I make a more traditional card featuring flowers or scrolls, but when I saw these two adorable birds on Laura Lipe's blog, I knew I just had to case her card.  Don't you just love punch art?

Closeup of the love birds.  The punches used were the ornament punch for the base, the round tab punch (you could also use the Butterfly punch for this section of the body), small heart for the beak, wings are from the 2-step bird punch, and the feet and head feathers are fromthe small flower in the Boho Blossoms punch.

My second card is based on a two-step card made from a 6 x 6 sheet of cardstock that I've attached to a 6 x 4 1/2 card base.   I used Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz and Poppy Parade Incolors for the DSP, cardstocks and ink.  The Flower stamp is from the Punch Bunch stamp set and the Love sentiment is from one of the recent Valentine stamp promotion sets.

Paper Pumpkin Alternatives April 2024 and Sketch Challenges

The past week was so busy that time literally flew by.  I have a number of projects on the go, including working on my April 2024 Paper Pump...
